If you aren’t a medicinal user, smoking weed for recreational purposes can be a bit of a drag – unless you are at a party or have a few friends over. However, with more than half the world forced into a lockdown due to Covid-19, parties and get-togethers are quite out of the picture.
This has created a bit of a problem, and weed lovers all over Canada are looking for fun and enjoyable activities to pass the time while high.
Luckily, you don’t need to worry, because we have got your back. As one of the oldest online suppliers of weed in Canada, we’ve seen it all. Today we will be discussing one of the most common and best pastimes to do while high – movies!
Watching movies has been a popular pastime for stoners and potheads for decades now. Which is primarily why a large number of movies have featured cannabis in them, along with a number of other drugs as well. And watching movies while high has a number of advantages, as it can make everything so much more enjoyable.
Even though there are a ton of weed worthy movies out there – today, we will be looking at five of the best movies to watch, or rewatch when high.
So fire up your joints and grab some snacks because we’re about to jump right in!
1. Inception (2010)
Starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Inception is a classic, mind bending movie which was perhaps created to be watched high. It follows Don Cobb (played by Dicaprio), a thief who has the ability to steal information and secrets by entering his target’s dreams.
While the story already seems trippy enough, things take an extremely bizarre twist when Cobb is ordered to do the impossible, and implant an idea into a target’s brain in return for a clean slate.
Overall, the story is extremely trippy, somewhat funny, and one of the best movies to watch while high. So if you are planning to watch Inception, we would recommend a sativa dominant strain with cerebral effects, such as the rare Gorilla Bomb or Green Crack.
2. Matrix (Trilogy)
If you are a regular user, or in the mood for a long, enjoyable night, or even if you are searching for something to watch while high over the weekend, the Matrix Trilogy might just be the movie series you need.
The Warner Bros. owned series begins with The Matrix (1999) which is followed by two sequels in 2003, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The story is based in a fictional universe, where mankind has experienced it’s technological downfall, and is held prisoner in a virtual reality system – the matrix by a race of self aware, intelligent machines.
Luckily for humanity, a group of prisoners are able to break apart from the system and try to free humanity. The story focuses on a number of unique, interesting, stereotypical and slightly funny characters, which include Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne).
So if you truly are looking for something interesting, complicated, and funny to get you through the weekend, you should definitely watch the matrix trilogy. You can use your favorite strains, but we would recommend the Rock Bubba or the classic Rockstar strains.
3. Interstellar (2014)
Nothing can beat rockets and space exploration, especially if you are high. If you are looking for the perfect movie to watch while high, you might just have found it.
Interstellar is a 2014 British-American science fiction movie directed by the famous Cristopher Nolan. Starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, the story is set in the dystopian future where earth has nearly become inhabitable.
A group of astronauts board the Endurance, and travel through a wormhole near Saturn on a desperate and exciting quest to find a new planet for the human race. The journey is bizarre and interesting, and heavily spiced with many twists and surprises, and has a satisfying and heartwarming ending.
We feel that this movie, combined with the delicious taste and aroma of Chocolate Kush, can truly make your movie night special.
4. Fight Club (1999)
A movie like no other, Fight club is not only one of the best movies to watch while high, it is one of the best movies ever made. Insanely funny, emotional, and containing a whole lot of action, this is a movie you must watch, and then watch again while stoned.
The story follows the narrations of a depressed, imsoniac man (played by Edward Norton), who meets the most peculiar soap salesman named Tyler Durden (played by Brad Pitt), and is forced to move in with him in a grubby and squalid house after his modern apartment is destroyed.
The two eventually become friends and form a fight club, where men who are fed up with their mundane and monotonous lives come together and fight to express some of their frustration and stress. However, an exciting twist comes into the story in the form of Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), who catches Tyler’s attention and makes the story ever more thrilling and exhilarating.
If you haven’t seen it yet, fight club is a must watch movie. It will make you laugh and cry, and take you to the very edge of the abyss. Which is why we feel that evenly balanced hybrids like Juicy Fruit might be well suited for this movie.
5. Airplane! (1980)
If you truly want to enjoy your weed and get a few laughs, you should definitely watch Airplane while high. This 1980 disaster film will literally have you rolling on the floor laughing.
The story follows Ted Striker, a traumatized veteran pilot who is afraid of flying and has been handed the responsibility of landing a plane safely after the pilot, and many other passengers fall sick due to food poisoning.
The movie is a hilarious comedy, and is considered by many as the perfect movie for smoking weed. Especially when it’s got a bit of romance, in the form of a hot air hostess who is also Ted’s wartime girlfriend. So light up your favorite strain, sit back and enjoy this truly delightful and ridiculous movie.
